Does the DMO offer flexible working?

Yes, the DMO offers flexibility around how we work, making sure we are supported by the right culture, technology and workplace. DMO employees currently work a hybrid pattern, spending 60% of time in the office across a month.

 

Can I claim back any expenses incurred during the recruitment process?

No. Unfortunately, we will not be able to reimburse you.

 

Is security clearance required?

Yes, if successful you must hold, or be willing to obtain, security clearance to SC level. More information about the vetting process can be found at:

The qualifying criteria needed to apply for SC is to be:


A resident in the UK for three out of the last five years immediately prior to your application. Please note: at least one year of this must have been a consecutive twelve-month period, unless you have served overseas with HM Forces, or in some other official capacity as a representative of His Majesty’s Government, or have lived overseas as a result of your parent’s or partner’s Government employment.

 

What reasonable adjustments can be made if I have a disability?

We are committed to making reasonable adjustments in order to support disabled job applicants and ensure that you are not disadvantaged in the recruitment and assessment process. If you feel that you may need a reasonable adjustment to be made, or you would like to discuss your requirements in more detail, please contact Recruitment@dmo.gov.uk in the first instance.

 

What is the Disability Confident Scheme (DCS), and am I guaranteed an interview if I apply for a role through this scheme?

DMO is a Disability Confident employer, meaning we are committed to offering an interview to any candidate with a disability who meets the minimum requirements for the role. If you wish to apply under the DCS, you should state this in your application. It is not necessary to state the nature of your disability.

 

Do I need to bring anything with me to my interview?

You will need to bring photo ID with you so the interview panel can verify your identity.

 

How will I be assessed at interview stage?

DMO interviews usually last 45 – 60 minutes. This is our opportunity to get to know how your skills, behaviours and experience align with what is needed to do the job well.


The interview criteria that you will be assessed on will be outlined in the job advert and in the role profile. This will usually be the same criteria as the sift stage, plus some additional behaviours. The panel may assess different elements of the behaviours at interview. You may also be assessed on Strengths at interview stage.


Some interviews will also include an additional task, test or presentation. Where this is the case, it will be advertised in the role profile, and details will be communicated to you prior to interview.

 

Will this role be overseen by the Civil Service Commission?

Yes, the recruitment process will be governed by the Civil Service Commission’s Recruitment Principles.

 

What do I do if I want to make a complaint?

The law requires that selection for appointment to the Civil Service is on merit on the basis of fair and open competition as outlined in the Civil Service Commission’s Recruitment Principles. If you feel your application has not been treated in accordance with the Recruitment Principles, and you wish to make a complaint, you should contact Kamara Ferdinand (at Recruitment@dmo.gov.uk) in the first instance. Will I receive feedback on my application and interview?

Feedback is not provided at application stage. If you attend an interview detailed feedback can be requested.
