The Civil Service Commission
The Civil Service Commission, established in 1855, oversees the recruitment, selection, and appointments within the Civil Service, ensuring its impartiality and meritocratic principles.
The commission provide assurance that civil servants are selected on merit on the basis of fair and open competition, maintaining an impartial Civil Service, independent of the Government and Civil Service. The Civil Service Commission are an executive Non-Departmental Public Body sponsored by the Cabinet Office. Aspiring to maintain a highly efficient and effective Civil Service.
The Civil service commission believe the country is best served through how the CVC recruits and develops the best and most diverse talent, free of personal and political patronage. Maintaining the core values of Impartiality, Objectivity, Integrity, and Honesty in the Civil Service Code.
